Michael T. Gillies
BFA, MFA, EDS
b. Dayton, Ohio 1970 -


Michael received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA) with a concentration
in Art Education and Painting studio from Murray State University,
Murray, Kentucky (1994) and holds the terminal degree (MFA) for Studio Art
in Painting and Drawing from Louisiana State University, (1998) Baton Rouge, Louisiana Recently Gillies completed a Specialist degree (EDS) from the
University of Georgia, (2020) with a concentration in Art Education.
While at the University of Georgia, Gillies participated in the Red Clay Writing Project as part of a 2020 Red Clay Fellowship to study Writing, Poetry
and the Arts.

Gillies has taught many years in both public and private settings and
continues to be devoted to community arts in Georgia. Gillies has served
as an Assistant Professor of Art and in leadership positions at Georgia Military College Warner Robins campus, Central High School and International Baccalaureate School for the Arts and at Howard High School in Macon, Georgia.

Currently, Michael is a Studio Art Instructor at Middle Georgia State University,
at the Macon campus where he enjoys teaching Art Foundations.
